Most of us have a GPS, but do we know how to use them correctly?
Do we know how to use their full potential?
Mr GPS in South Africa (SA 4x4) Kevin Bolton will teach you
what this marvelous piece of equipment is all about!

Please note that a GPS can be hired for a nominal amount
for use during the course should you require one.

DAY ONE

Satellite Navigation Theory
1. History of Satellite Navigation
2. The NAVSTAR system
3. Differential GPS
4. New technologies / systems
5. Satellite Navigation Terminology

 Faults and Errors in the system

Map Reading Related to GPS
1. Datum’s
2. Projections
3. Co-ordinates Systems
4. Map References Systems, Map Scales and Types of Maps
5. Practical (Plotting and scaling off of co-ordinates)

LUNCH BREAK

The different screens of a GPS
Menus and sub menus
Configuration of the GPS to your needs (Setup)
Input of data and the recording of data
Up and Downloading of data from a computer
Standards
Navigation functions (GoTo, Routes and TrackBack)



DAY TWO
(The second day of training commences with the more practical side of the training.)

Practical (as a group and individually).

Satellite Navigation Software.
1. Configuration of the Software package on the computer
2. Geo-referencing of maps on open software package
3. Using the software package as a planning tool
4. Up and Down loading of data from a computer
5. Analysing of download data.

LUNCH BREAK

After lunch there will be a general discussion and questions.



Please note that a minimum of
10 participants are required to run this course.

Cancellations by Participant:
In the event of cancellation of a booking by a participant, and he/she is unable to
find a immediate paid up replacement, and provided that KJ Bolton Consultant has
15 days or more notice in writing, the participant will receive a refund for the
amount paid minus a 25% cancellation fee. No Refunds will be made for cancellations
received within 15 days of the course commencement date.

Cancellations:
In the unlikely event of the course being cancelled or postponed KJ Bolton Consultant
and if an alternative date can be offered by KJ Bolton Consultant is unacceptable to
the participant the participant shall be entitled to a full and immediate refund.

Indemnity:
All participants will be obliged to fill in, sign and return
an indemnity form before the course commences (on the day).
